Partylist groups react on dissolution of Partylist system

Manila, Philippines - Some representatives of Partylist groups immediately react on President Rodrigo Duterte’s plan to remove the Partylist system and prohibit them from participating the Federal form of government.

AKBAYAN Rep. Tom Villarin said that instead of removing it, they should implement reform in the system because this is stated in the Constitution.

Villarin added that if there is something that should be dissolute, it should be the political dynasties.
MAGDALO Partylist Rep. Gary Alejano and BUHAY Partylist Rep. Lito Atienza are advising the President to think carefully of his plan to eradicate the Partylist system.

For Atienza, we can implement change like setting a limit of three terms for every representative to avoid monopolizing the system.
