Manila, Philippines - The government peace panel and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front will meet for the first time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 13-14.

Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza has confirmed the re-launching of the two panels for the implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro.

The formal meeting between the GPH and the MILF is in response to the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to continue with the peace process with the Moro rebels.

According to Secretary Dureza, the meeting is crucial between the two panels for the implementation phase of the peace agreement signed by the former Aquino administration.

“This meeting is actually to launch the implementation stage of what we envisioned to be a Bangsamoro enabling law.  It is to implement the CAB that was signed between the government and the MILF in 2014.  We have already gotten the consensus of all sectors in the Bangsamoro that the period of the negotiations is over.  We are now in the process of implementing all these signed agreements.”

Meanwhile, President Duterte gave out gold cross medals to the 11 soldiers who fought against the more than 80 members of the New People’s Army in Valencia City, Bukidnon on August 5.
