Manila, Philippines - President Rodrigo Duterte gave Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa a stern warning if he continues to be a drug protector.
During Duterte’s media briefing at the airport on Wednesday, the President said that if Espinosa continues to be a drug protector, he will personally bring him to the plaza and hang him for the public to see.
President Duterte added that if he intercepts a call of Espinosa indicating his continued involvement in illegal drugs and finds out that he is being fooled by the mayor in spite of his previous promise to campaign against illegal drugs, Duterte will kill him.
The previous presidents only gave warning to drug lords, but did not do anything to put an end with their operations.
Prior to this, mayor Espinosa appeared before Philippine National Police Chief Dir. Gen. Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa after he was given a 24-hour deadline by President Duterte.
His son, Kerwin, remains at large. Kerwin is believed to be the number one drug supplier in Eastern Visayas.
Authorities were able to confiscate Php88million worth of shabu and high caliber guns during a recent raid at the house of Mayor Espinosa.
