Anti-Marcos rally held at Libingan ng mga Bayani

Libingan ng mga Bayani
Manila, Philippines - More than 70 members of the League of Filipino Students, GABRIELA and other militant groups held a rally outside the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Thursday, expressing their disapproval on the impending hero’s burial of the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

The rally coincided with the remains of former Philippine Army Commanding General Rodolfo Canieso at the LNMB for his wake.

Canieso’s burial is scheduled this coming August 21.  The public viewing is tentatively scheduled on August 19 and 20.

Gen. Canieso served as the first presidential security group commander of the late President Corazon C. Aquino and became the director general of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.

According to Army Spokesman Col. Benjie Hao, what the militant groups did in what is considered a sacred place was disrespectful.

Jao added that the rally was unacceptable because there is a right time for everything.

In line with this, Col. Hao appealed to the public to respect the area of the dead, and the peace and quiet it brings to the families whose loved one are laid to rest there.
