Manila, Philippines - Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is challenging his colleague in the Senate, Sen. Leila De Lima to inhibit herself from the Senate’s hearing on the alleged extra-judicial killings amid the Duterte administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Cayetano said that De Lima is biased and has pre-judged that some of the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) are involved in killing individuals suspected to be involved in illegal drugs.
According to Cayetano, he will write to De Lima, asking her to inhibit herself from the Senate investigation even though the Senate has yet to set the next schedule on the hearing of extra-judicial killings.
Cayetano said that if De Lima refuses to inhibit herself, she should at least remain fair in handling the hearing.
