Manila, Philippines - Some Senators from the Liberal Party insist that the Senate should issue its position after President Rodrigo Duterte’s personal attack against one of their own, Senator Leila De Lima.

According to Sen. Franklin Drilon, with that act from the President, the Senate leadership should have a united stand through Senate President Koko Pimentel because one of their colleague is being attack on a personal level by President Duterte.

Meanwhile, Sen. Riza Hontiveros said that the Senate, as an institution should defend the integrity of any of its members.

Drilon insisted that Pimentel should show that he is capable of protecting not just his fellow Senators but the Senate as an institution itself.  The Senate President should not give in to the every whim of the President, amid being allies under the PDP-Laban.
