CGMA confirms Deputy House Speaker post in 17th Congress

Manila, Philippines - Former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo announced that she will be the Deputy House Speaker in the 17^th Congress.

Arroyo confirmed the news during her visit at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City on Wednesday, wherein she was detained for four years.

Arroyo was at the VMMC to hand over the dialysis machine she is donating to the hospital.

The former President’s hospital arrest ended on July 21 after the Supreme Court junked the plunder case filed against her in connection with the anomalous used of the Php366 million intelligence fund of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Meanwhile, former first Gentleman Mike Arroyo has sought the permission of the Sandiganbayan to allow him to leave the country with Mrs. Arroyo.

Based on the motion filed at the 4^th division of the Anti-graft court, Mr. Arroyo said that he and Rep. Arroyo are planning to go on vacation at the following countries:

Munich, Germany           September 10-29
Paris, France                      September 29-October 3
Hongkong                           October 29-Novembe 4

Aside from vacation, Mrs. Arroyo would like to undergo stem-cell procedure for her Multiple Cervical Spondylosis.

The Sandiganbayan previously approved the foreign trip of the former first gentleman, amid facing multiple graft charges.
