Manila, Philippines - The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) started conducting lifestyle check on their employees, based on the order of its commisioner, Caesar Dulay.

The said move is part of Dulay’s platform of weeding corrupt officials, especially those who were previously warned to stop engaging in illegal activities or face being charged in court.

In a statement by the BIR, the anti-corruption campaign in the biggest tax collection agency in the country, includes lifestyle checks on all its officials and employees.

Dulay already enlisted the help of the National Bureau of Investigation, Land Registration Authority and Land Transportation Office, to conduct background checks to BIR employees and officials.

Meanwhile, the BIR strictly implements its “no gift policy” in all BIR branches nationwide.
