MANILA – “The Filipino Assassin” will be making his UFC return for the company’s debut event in the country on May 16th.

Ring of Combat lightweight champion Phillipe Nover (10-5-1, with 6 wins by stoppage) is slated to face “The Korean Bulldozer” Yui Chul Nam (18-4, with 9 wins by stoppage), in a featherweight contest. Both men will be making a drop from 155-pounds to 145-pounds.

The UFC made the announcement through ABS-CBN Sports on Monday afternoon.

Interestingly enough, the 31-year old Nover, who is also a registered nurse, launched his own social media campaign when UFC Fight Night Manila was officially announced late last month. Using the hashtag #BringNoverBack, the Ultimate Fighter finalist was able to garner the support from his fans, particularly from his fellow Filipinos.

Nover’s UFC career, which began in 2008, was short-lived. After only three fights that all ended in losses, he was subsequently released from the company. But after successful stints with rival promotions, he was brought back into the UFC, with the chance to fight in front of his home crowd for the first time.

Tickets for UFC Fight Night Manila will be released on March 13th, through SM Tickets.
