Some 22 UV Express units will ply routes between Tandang Sora in Quezon City and T.M. Kalaw in Manila, and Tandang Sora and North Avenue, GMA News' Tricia Zafra reported on GMA News TV's "Balitanghali Weekend."
Like their jeepney counterparts launched earlier this month, the Pink UV Express units will prioritize women, youths, PWDs, and senior citizens from 6 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.
Some of the passengers said they welcome the Pink UVs as it would be an assurance they would not be harassed, or that they could have an easier time getting a ride.
Last Feb. 14, a fleet of Pink jeepneys plied the route between Guadalupe in Makati City and Pateros town, GMA News' Jay Sabale reported.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board said the jeeps – with drivers wearing pink shirts – will prioritize women, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
Men can ride the Pink jeeps but during non-rush hours. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
