The
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) questioned on Tuesday (February
17) a person suspected to be responsible for uploading a video clip of
the Mamasapano massacre that went viral last week.
Victor
Lorenzo of the NBI Cyber Crime Division Region XI said the suspect was a
businessman based in Davao who admitted to uploading the graphic video -- but denied filming the incident himself.
The
'uploader' claimed that the clip -- which showed how a wounded police
commando was finished off with two .45-caliber shots -- was from a
Facebook account of a friend.
Lorenzo said that the suspect did not give any particular reason for uploading the video except that it was "new."
The businessman was very cooperative and even gave more leads for investigators to pursue, Lorenzo added.
"The
thing about online publication is that it defies territorial
boundaries, which complicates things," Lorenzo said, as he explained why
they cannot give a definite timeline for the investigation. - From a report by Ben Tesiorna
