ABS-CBNnews.com is world's 5th top Facebook publisher

ABS-CBNnews.com climbed to 5th place among the world's biggest publishers on Facebook in January 2015, according to news aggregator NewsWhip.

ABS-CBNnews.com was ahead of other global news companies such as NBC, The Guardian, The New York Times, BBC, and The Washington Post.

ABS-CBNnews.com is also the lone Philippine and Asian website on the list.
The top 10 publishers on Facebook, as of January 2015, are: huffingtonpost.com, buzzfeed.com, foxnews.com, playbuzz.com, ABS-CBNnews.com, nbc.com, mirror.co.uk, bleacherreport.com, dailymail.co.uk, and theguardian.com.


POPE FRANCIS COVERAGE
ABS-CBNnews.com also trounced its rivals during the 5-day visit of Pope Francis.
Based on the 2 main comparative metrics systems -- Effective Measure and Alexa -- that are used by Philippine publishers, ABS-CBNnews.com came out on top in its January 15 to 19 coverage of the Pop'’s visit.

ABS-CBNnews.com got 24.3 million pageviews from January 15 to 19, or 10 million more pageviews than its closest competitor, GMA Network, which got 14.6 million pageviews. This is based on 3rd-party data by Effective Measure.

Data from Alexa also showed ABS-CBNnews.com ahead of inquirer.net, rappler.com, philstar.com, and interaksyon during the 5-day Papal coverage in terms of pageviews and reach.
Many netizens watched the Pope's visit via livestream on ABS-CBNnews.com, with nearly 200,000 pageviews from January 15 to 19 for ABS-CBNnews.com and 78,740 for Teleradyo dzmm.com.ph's livestream/audiostream.

ABS-CBNnews.com's page dedicated to the Pope Francis visit was its 5th top page from January 15 to 19. Sixteen of the top 25 pages of ABS-CBNnews.com during the 5-day period were about the Papal visit.

ABS-CBNnews.com's Pope Francis page generated 526,353 pageviews from October 2014 when it was first uploaded with stories, special reports, and multimedia executions on the Pope visit.
Half of ABS-CBNnews.com's audience followed the Papal visit on mobile, tablet or smart TV while 49% followed the visit via desktop computers.
