Manila, Philippines - Senator Panfilo Lacson is against the “shoot on sight” order of President Rodrigo Duterte against identified drug traffickers like Kerwin Espinosa.
Lacson said that the only justification of killing a suspect is if it is out of self-defense, or the authorities’ lives are at stake.
The Senator believes that President Duterte knows the law and that authorities cannot just kill the young Espinosa when they confront him.
For De Lima, Duterte’s order is already outdated because it is inconsistent with the law.
For the lady Senator, a “shoot on sight” order is only necessary if the suspect uses force against the arresting officers.
