Manila, Philippines - The PDP-Laban has filed a petition at the Supreme Court against the approved extension of the submission of the Statement of Contribution and Expenditures by the Commission on Elections.

Incoming House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez filed the 23-page petition for Certiorari as Secretary-General of the PDP-Laban.

Based on the said petition, the PDP-Laban is asking the Supreme Court to nullify the COMELEC resolution extending the deadline of submission of SOCE, from its original date of June 8.  The said submission has since been moved to June 30.

Prior to this, the Liberal Party has sought the permission from the COMELEC if the poll body can extend the deadline of submission after they failed to make it on the original date.

Atty. George Garcia of the PDP-Laban clarified that this petition is not against any political party.
Meanwhile, they are leaving it up to the Supreme Court to figure out what are the possible effects this decision of the COMELEC is to the political parties and other politicians who failed to submit their SOCE on the original deadline of June 8.
