Senate hopes LEDAC included in Duterte’s agenda

Manila, Philippines -
Senators are hoping that President Rodrigo Duterte will soon be setting a meeting for the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council after this week’s national Security Council meeting wherein four of the past Philippine Presidents were present.
According to Senate Minority leader Ralph Recto, in the Aquino administration, LEDAC was pushed to the sidelines for six years.
Recto added that President Duterte may use the LEDAC meeting to serve as a sound board so that they can discuss issues concerning the country’s economy, including the issue on tax reform.
After attending the NSC meeting, Recto said that he noticed that Duterte welcomes ideas from the group and that there is a possibility that he will be calling for meetings often.
On a side note, Recto said that Duterte has a way of inserting jokes during their meeting, which was a welcome relief because they did not feel that they were there for five hours.
Also present during the NSC meeting were Vice President Leni Robredo, Senate President Koko Pimentel and House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.
