Manila, Philippines - Globe Telecom announced in a press statement that it is ready to transmit voice calls for emergency hotline 911 and complaint hotline 888 starting August 1.

The government has directed the implementation of these hotlines so that the public will have easy access with their complaints or emergencies.

In line with the said announcement, Globe said that it is in the process of expediting migration of their system to immediately enable transmission of SMS and or text messages via 8888.

The government has given them a time frame of 30-45 days before they start regular operations.

Atty. Froilan Castelo, Globe General Counsel, in the press statement said “As suggested by the government to discourage prank calls, we would also like to inform our customer that those calling the hotlines will incur regular voice charges plus an additional Php5/call for those calling the 911 hotline.

As telecommunications provider, Globe recognizes the importance of such communication tool for the government to effectively carry out its initiatives for the benefit of the public.”. CT:Rita Salonga of RH News
