MANILA, Philippines - It was bound to happen. Coco Martin, the star of "Ang Probinsyano," met with Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa Wednesday to discuss the positive effects of the series in helping the country's police force regain the trust of Filipinos.

"Maganda ang ginagawa niyo sa 'Ang Probinsyano.' Bumabalik ang kumpiyansa ng mga tao sa mga pulis," Dela Rosa told Martin and the creators of the hit series, which is about an honest cop striving to do the best in his job, as they sat down for a meeting inside his office at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

Dela Rosa also told Martin to try and keep the show on-air for as long as they can. "Sana tuloy-tuloy na iyan," the PNP chief said.

Since the series' debut back in September 2015, "Ang Probinsyano" has tackled a range of topics such as the illegal drug trade, prostitution rings, police corruption, child abductions, and most recently, high-profile assassinations.

In an interview with reporters after the meeting, Martin admitted that he was "starstruck" by Dela Rosa. "Nakakatuwa na napaka-down-to-earth niya at napaka-simple," he said.

Asked about his thoughts on the continued support from Filipinos, Martin replied: "Honestly, napakasarap po sa pakiramdam namin.
