President’s first SONA to focus on legislative agenda

                      President Rodrigo R. Duterte issued a statement on July 19 at Malacañan Palace clarifying and dismissing rumors that he is replacing Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay. The President said that he personally pleaded Yasay to join his administration because of his competence and honesty and that the Secretary knows his business. Manila, Philippines - President Rodrigo Duterte will focus his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on his legislative agenda.

According to Communications Sec. Martin Andanar, Duterte will lay his road map for his entire term to let the public know his priorities.

The secretary once again reminded those attending the SONA to be in business attire.

Andanar confirmed that previous Philippine presidents are invited to attend Duterte’s SONA on July 25.

However, former President Benigno Aquino III will be missing the said event.

No reason was stated why Aquino will not be attending Monday’s SONA.
