Gamiaw Weather Update: BUTCHOY to exit PAR this afternoon

Philippines - At 4:00 am today, the eye of Typhoon “BUTCHOY” was located based on all available data including Basco doppler radar at 220 km North Northwest of Itbayat, Batanes (22.7˚N, 121.4˚E) with maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 15 kph. Southwest monsoon affecting Luzon and Visayas.

Forecast: Stormy weather with rough to very rough seas will previail over Batanes Group Islands while rains with gusty winds is expected over Babuyan Group of Islands. Monsoon rains will be experienced over the provinces of Cavite, Batangas, Zambales, Bataan and Mindoro while occasional rains will prevail over Metro Manila, Visayas and the rest of Luzon. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Mindanao.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the south to southwest will prevail over Mindanao and coming from the southwest over Visayas and the rest of Luzon. The coastal waters over the rest of the archipelago will be moderate to rough.


Because of heavy rain in Metro Manila and nearby provinces some of Public Schools have already suspended Friday classes.
