Liberal Party denies association with Davao Death Squad witness Matobato

Manila, Philippines - The Liberal Party denied claims that they are behind the witness, Edgar Matobato, who appeared before Thursday’s Senate hearing in connection with the alleged extra-judicial killings.

According to Senator Leila De Lima, Matobato voluntarily submitted himself to the Senator’s office to reveal everything he knows about the alleged Davao Death Squad.

De Lima said that the Liberal Party has no knowledge that Matobato will be appearing in the Senate, because the witness only wants to reveal the truth to the public.

The lady Senator believes that Matobato is a credible witness even though Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Panfilo Lacson tried to destroy his credibility because of the inconsistencies in his testimony.

Prior to this, Senator Cayetano raised doubts that there is a possibility that the Liberal Party was behind the appearance of Matobato, as part of the political party’s “plan B” in ousting the President.
