Manila, Philippines - Senator Leila De Lima has once again fired back against President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of ‘state of national emergency.’
De Lima insisted that some provisions from Proclamation no.55 may be abused.
Some of these provisions the lady Senator was referring include the ‘warrantless arrest’, and why the declaration covered the whole country when the incident happened only in Davao City.
De Lima also questioned Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo’s statement before the explosion happened in the Roxas city night market in Davao, Malacanang already had plans of declaring a ‘state of national emergency’ or a ‘state of lawless violence.’
De Lima doubts on the provision concerning the indefinite declaration of the state of national emergency until President Duterte says otherwise.
Amid her on-going tension with the President, Senator De Lima is bent on continuing the hearing of the Senate Committee on Justice regarding the alleged extra-judicial killings, set this coming September 15.
