Manila, Philippines - President Rodrigo Duterte insisted that he and Indonesian President Joko Widodo did not discuss the fate of Filipina convict, Mary Jane Veloso.
The President made the clarification at the 48th anniversary of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing at the Villamor Airbase on Tuesday.
According to the President, he does not want to meddle with the case of Veloso because he is focused on the country’s campaign against illegal drugs.
President Duterte added that he will respect the decision of the Indonesian court on the fate of Veloso’s case.
However, the President said that he did not give any go-signal for the Indonesian government to push through with Veloso’s execution.
President Duterte mentioned that the issue of Veloso did not come up during his meeting with the Indonesian President.
