Manila, Philippines - President Rodrigo Duterte visited the soldiers from the headquarters of the Western Mindanao Command in Zamboanga City after coming from the 104th Infantry Brigade in Basilan.

During his speech, the President motivated the soldiers’ desire to continue their offensive operations against the Abu Sayyaf Group in Basilan and Sulu.

Duterte promised that he will end the country’s problem with the ASG because the existence of the rebel group is a big slap and disgrace to the image of the country in the international community.

In line with this, President Duterte assured the soldiers that the government will fulfill its promise of salary increase for the members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, including the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The President is encouraging all soldiers to inform him if they need financial help, so that they will not be persuaded by drug lords in the country who may offer them money.
