MANILA - The Senate Committee on Public Service has started with its hearing on the list of the projects submitted by the Department of Transportation, that allegedly will help in alleviating the traffic problem in Metro Manila.

Some of these projects include the acquisition of liscence cards amounting to Php470 million, buying of plate making machine, bus rapid transit 1&2, integrated transport terminal (Coastal Rd., and FTI Bicutan), road networks, and rail networks.

The DOTr also suggested the work from home project in Metro Manila so that employees don’t need to leave their homes when working.

However, the DOTr admitted that this is impossible if the internet service in the country is slow.  They will have to propose for the construction of additional cell sites to that we will have a strong, fast internet service in the country.

The DOTr also plans on transferring the informal settlers away from the streets in the Metro.
This will be the last hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Service while the next hearing will focus on the technical working group.

Meanwhile, the emergency powers for President Duterte is expected to be ratified by the end of 2016.
