200 kilos of illegal drugs, sold inside NBP from GIG transactions

MANILA - The “Geuine Ilocano Group” inside the New Bilibid Prisons was able to sell two hundred kilos of illegal drugs within a year.

This was revealed by high-profile inmate Noel Martinez, leader of the GIG.

Martinez said that in 2013, his group started selling illegal drugs for convicted drug lord Jaybee Sebastian, who is allegedly in-charge of remitting the earnings to Senator Leila De Lima.

From 2013 to 2014, more than 200 kilos of illegal drugs was sold by the GIG but Martinez could no longer provide the exact amount of how much they earned from the said transactions.

In 2014, Martinez refrained from selling illegal drugs because his relationship with Sebastian then turned lukewarm.

In line with this, Congress is set to invite Sebastian to appear before the next Congress hearing.
House Committee on Justice Rep. Reynaldo Umali confirmed the said information after Surigao Del Norte Rep. Robert Barbers asked for the lower house to issue a subpoena against Sebastian.

Sebastian is being pinpointed as De Lima’s “point man” and has control of the illegal drug trade inside the NBP.

However, Umali clarified that even before Barbers suggested to subpoena Sebastian, he is already in the list of those who will be called to appear before the said Congress hearing.
