PNP: 1,216 killed, 18,873 arrested drug suspects since July 1

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday announced that more than 1,200 suspected drug personalities have been killed since the implementation of the “Oplan Double Barrel.”

The “Oplan Double Barrel” is the intensified campaign against the small and big drug dealers in the country.

In the latest data released by the PNP, a total of 1,216 suspects were killed since July 1 to Sept. 24, 2016.

A total of 19,935 anti-drug operations were conducted by the PNP which resulted in the arrest of 18,873 suspects for the same period.

Likewise, in the PNP’s “Project Tokhang” (Knock and Request), a total of 1,217,546 houses have been visited wherein a total of 721,067 drug personalities have surrendered — 53,499 are drug pushers and 667,568 are users.

Last Friday, President Rodrigo Duterte said the anti-drug campaign would be intensified as the number of addicts is expected to rise from 3.7 million to four million by the end of the month.  PNA with a report from Philstar.com/Rosette Adel
