MANILA - The Commission on Elections already spent Php200 million from the Php6 Billion budget for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez said that the mentioned amount was spent during the initial printing of the official ballots that are supposed to be use for this year’s brgy and SK elections.

Jimenez added that they already started printing the ballots last August 21, before there were petitions to postpone the Brgy and SK elections for next year.

More than 411,000 ballots have been printed already by the National Printing Office before the COMELEC pull the plug on it.

Jimenez mentioned that the all remaining funds will be used in the Barangay and SK elections, which was moved in 2017.

Prior to this, the two houses of Congress agreed to postpone the Brgy, SK elections for next year to avoid the public from suffering “election fatigue.”
