Lorenzana assures immediate release of Php4.7B pension funds for veterans

MANILA - Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana made an assurance that the Php4.7 billion pension funds approved by President Rodrigo Duterte last August will be released immediately.

Lorenzana made the announcement during the 44th anniversary of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office in Camp Aguinaldo.

According to Secretary Lorenzana, veterans, AFP retirees and widows of soldiers will receive their due pensions as soon as possible.

Lorenzana added that World War 2 veterans and retirees, ages 80 years old and above will benefit from the Php2.72 Billion total administrative disability benefits.

Aside from the pension, Secretary Lorenzana clarified that a total of Php3.5 billion will be shared to all widows of soldiers and Php1.2 billion for AFP retirees.

In total, more than 83,346 World War II and post-war veterans and their wives, are currently receiving Php1,700 monthly pension from the PVAO.
