TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT: TYPHOON "KAREN" [SARIKA]
Issued at 11:30 p.m., 16 October  2016
Typhoon "KAREN" has maintained its strength and is about to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
  • Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within 500 km diameter of the typhoon.
  • Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of northern Luzon and the western seaboard of Central Luzon. 
  • Typhoon KAREN is expected to exit PAR tonight or early morning tomorrow.
  • Meanwhile at 8:00 PM today, the Typhoon with international name "HAIMA" was located at 1,500 km East of Visayas (11.2°N, 138.7°E). It is expected to enter the eastern boundary of the PAR tomorrow afternoon (17 October 2016).
  • All TCWS are now lifted.

Strength:Maximum sustained winds of up to 130 kph near the center
and gustiness of up to 200 kph
Movement:Forecast to move West Northwest at 22 kph.

  • 48 Hour (Tuesday evening): 1,215 km West of Sinait, Ilocos Sur (OUTSIDE PAR)
  • 72 Hour (Wednesday evening): 1,645 km West of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR)
  • 96 Hour (Thursday evening): 1,880 km West Northwest of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR)


NO TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNAL
  • The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next weather bulletin to be issued at 11 AM tomorrow or earlier.
