MANILA, Philippines – As far as reinforcements are concerned, Barangay Ginebra has Justin Brownlee.
But for the first time in the PBA Governors' Cup Finals series between the Kings and the Meralco Bolts, the most popular PBA team brought out one from the history books--the embodiment of the fabled "Never Say Die" mantra himself, Robert Jaworski--for a morale boost.
And the crowd--just as the players would--loved every moment of it.
"It’s amazing the competition has been so close and the attitude and decorum of the players are fine," Jaworski said as he was mobbed by the press upon his arrival at the Big Dome, Wednesday night. He took a seat in the lower box side at the final minutes of the opening period.
Jaworski, who had four championships with Ginebra--one as a playing coach–said "the attitude and decorum of the players are fine so we got a good game that came about."
And while there's no telling of who's going to win it tonight given the showing from both sides, the "Living Legend" said he really wanted Ginebra to finally end the eight-year title drought.
"There will be no losers the way (the teams) played this series," he said. "But I want Ginebra to win."
