WEATHER UPDATE: Signal No. 3 raised over 10 Luzon areas as ‘Karen’ accelerates



Ten areas in Luzon have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning (TCW) Signal Number 3 as Typhoon Karen accelerated on Saturday afternoon.

PAGASA said that as of 4 p.m., the typhoon's center was estimated at  205 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon. It was forecast to move west northwest at a speec of 22 kilometers per hour.

It said the typhoon is expected to make landfall in Aurora between midnight and 2 a.m. Sunday.
The typhoon is expected to cross Luzon and exit landmass through Pangasinan province by Sunday afternoon.

It was still packing maximum sustained winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 180 kph.

The weather bureau said the estimated rainfall amount within the typhoon's 500-km diameter was moderate to heavy.

  • Mt Province
  • Ifugao
  • rest of Zambales
  • Pampanga
  • Bulacan
  • Bataan
  • Rizal
  • rest of Quezon
  • Camarines Norte
  • Catanduanes
Signal Number 1 is raised over:
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Abra
  • Kalinga
  • rest of Isabela
  • southern Apayao
  • southern Cagayan
  • Oriental Mindoro
  • Cavite
  • Batangas
  • Laguna
  • Marinduque
  • Camarines Sur
  • Albay including Burias Island
PAGASA warned areas under Signal Number 3 and 2 against possible storm surges, landslides and flash floods.
