MANILA, Philippines — Barangay Ginebra held off a resilient Meralco Bolts side, 92-81, to move a win away from winning the PBA Governors Cup championship, Sunday night at the Araneta Coliseum.

Import Justin Brownlee led the Kings’ scoring onslaught with 29 points, while Japeth Aguilar added 16.

Ginebra’s Sol Mercado, who was clamped down by fouls in the previous outing, came back with a vengeance, finishing with eight markers capped by a crucial triple to neutralize the Bolts’ advance in the final two minutes of the game.

Meralco’s Allen Durham was only able to finish with 20 points. Cliff Hodge and Chris Newsome both added 10 to kept the game within reach.

Ginebra will have a chance to end a championship drought this Wednesday at the Big Dome. - With reports from Denison Dalupang via Philstar
