Gamiaw Headliners: Duterte offers ABS-CBN’s Lopez DENR post

Manila, Philippines - Incoming President Rodrigo Duterte has offered known environmentalist Gina Lopez a position in his Cabinet.

The ABS-CBN magnate was offered the Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Duterte made the offer to Lopez when the latter made a courtesy call to the President-elect at the Guest House of DPWH Panacan Depot in Davao City.

Lopez is the chairperson of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission after being appointed by outgoing President Benigno Aquino III in 2010.

Meanwhile, singer-actress Aiza Seguerra expressed her interest in joining the Duterte administration.
According to Seguerra, she can provide Duterte some advice on reforms in the Arts and Culture department.

The young songwriter made her intention clear during the Arts and Culture Agenda at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Some of the reforms Aiza wants to see materialize during the Duterte administration include the strengthening of the Labor Code, to provide a better condition for those in the Entertainment and Performing Arts, particularly those working on television and films.

She also suggested that the NCCA should be a Constitutional Commission, just like the Commission on Elections and Commission of Human Rights.

Aiza mentioned that she wants to be part of the Subcommission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts in order to protect the rights of the Lumads.

Aiza together with her partner, Liza Dino campaigned for Duterte in the last elections.
