Retirement, more fun in the Philippines.
The
country’s global image took a big leap after Forbes Magazine recently
listed the Philippines as one of the 20 best retirement havens in the
world for 2015.
Forbes,
the prestigious US business magazine well known for its lists and
rankings, cited the country’s tropical setting, low cost of living,
English-speaking locals, and outdoor splendor as among the main factors
that made the Philippines a popular choice for retirees.
In
the article “The Best Foreign Retirement Havens For 2015” written by
William Barrett and was posted on February 11, he listed the Philippines
as the 16th top country to retire to in 2015 (in alphabetical order).
“For
US retirees the principal appeal of the Philippines is a low cost of
living in a tropical environment full of English speakers and outdoor
beauty. Foreign income is untaxed, and permanent residency can be had on
a minimal showing of retirement income,” the article stated.
According
to Barrett, popular locations to retire include Tagaytay and Subic. He
also cited the non-stop flights between Manila and the US which averages
only 15 hours.
