A report from Telegraph.co.uk said a source close to Pacquiao revealed that the boxer-congressman has completed contractual agreement on Saturday (February 14, 2015) to a $250-million prize fight, said to be the “richest match-up in boxing history.” Mayweather is expected to sign the deal “soon.”
The American boxer is said to have secured a 60-percent cut of the revenue, while Pacquiao has agreed to receive the remaining 40 percent. The fight is likely to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 2, 2015—although Telegraph Sport said there are two other dates on the table.
“Manny has 100 per cent signed his side of the deal,” the source told Telegraph Sport. “It is now over to Mayweather to close the deal and announce the fight.”
Pacquiao has already started training in General Santos City for his next fight.
The two fighters had a face-to-face meeting in January at a basketball game in Miami, Florida. They later met at Pacquiao’s hotel suite for an hour.
