BASILAN, Philippines - Two children died while three others were wounded after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in Albarka, Basilan Monday morning.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) blamed the incident to the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).
AFP Western Mindanao Command identified the casualties; two-year old and Ombek Akbar, five years old. Both residents of Brgy. Danapah.
Meanwhile, Pahmiya Pising , Salmiya Akbar, both four years old and Suraima Akbar, 25 sustained injuries from the said blast.
Lt Col. Franco Raphael Alano of the Philippine Army, said the victims were playing when they accidentally touched the IED that resulted to the explosion.
