WEATHER | LPA develops into tropical depression 'Marce'

MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao has developed into a tropical depression and was named "Marce," state weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday.
 
It is expected to make landfall over Surigao provinces on Thursday afternoon or early evening. PAGASA forecast that it would exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning next week (November 28).
 
The tropical depression brings an estimated moderate to heavy rainfall amount within its 200 km diameter.
 
PAGASA said sea travel is risky over the northern seaboards of northern Luzon.
 
"Marce" was located at 420 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 4 p.m. Wednesday. It packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
 
It is forecast to move west-northwest at 17 kph.

  • 96 hours (Sunday afternoon): 360 km west of Cubi Point, SBMA, Olongapo City
  • 120 hours (Monday afternoon): 670 km west of Dagupan City (outside PAR)
