A rotating power outage in some parts of Mindanao and Metro Manila in Luzon scared many voters on Monday morning.
But when power was restored everything went back to normal slowly even as vote counting machines (VCMS) reportedly conked out in some places such as Imus, Cavite; Muntinlupa City in Metro Manila; and in San Mateo,Rizal.
Commission on Elections spokesman James Jimenez said they are on the lookout for any signs of malfunction or difficulty with the operations of the machines.
With more than 92,000 units deployed all over the country, Jimenez said it is “inevitable that some of them will experience technical difficulties.”
The COMELEC assured the public that it is well-prepared to meet these contingencies and it expects the elections to go off without a hitch. (JCA)
