By: Kristine Dela Cruz via RH TV

Senate will prioritize pending bills from the previous administration so that they can go through their third and final readings.

Senate President Franklin Drilon said that before the Senate took its recess for the recently concluded national elections, a lot of bills remain pending.

According to Drilon, he and House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte agreed that they will focus first on ratifying pending bills, including five Bicameral Conference Committee reports before entertaining new ones.

The Senate was able to amend some local and franchise bills and that the lower house will just adopt the Senate version.

The session for the two houses of Congress will resume on May 23.

Meanwhile, Congress will convene as National Board of Canvasser on May 25, wherein all certificate of canvass and election returns for President and Vice President will be transmitted from the Senate to the House of Representatives.
