Malacanang denies impeachment plan vs Duterte

Source: DZRH Radio Reports

Malacanang was quick to deny claims that allegedly they are already planning an impeachment case against Presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte if he wins the seat in Malacanang on June 30.

Prior to this, Vice Presidentiable, Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. revealed that the administration ticket is bent on Congresswoman Leni Robredo winning the Vice President post so that they can maneuver the impeachment case against Duterte.

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that he has not heard of this kind of plan from Malacanang.

Also, Coloma insisted that this kind of thinking is reckless and irresponsible as any impeachment proceeding will have to go through the lower house and it needs a certain number of lawmakers present to have it ratified.

The people who came up with this rumor should have an expansive imagination to come up with such things.

Meanwhile, Malacanang expressed that it recognizes the people’s decision in the recent Presidential elections.

The Palace believes that Duterte will be able to continue with the good governance that the Daang Matuwid of President Benigno Aquino has started.

“Our people have spoken and their verdict is accepted and respected. The path of good governance or Daang Matuwid is already established as all presidential candidates spoke out against corruption, and in favor of continuing and expanding present pro-poor programs, and pursuing more intiatives to sustain the strong economy and achieve inclusive growth.”

The president is also content that the nation was able to have a clean and peaceful elections.
Last Saturday, the security cluster had a meeting, which the President attended, in preparation for Monday’s elections.

Based on the Constitution, Coloma clarified that any impeachment move should start in Congress.
