The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is set to implement liquor ban starting May 8 up to May 9, election day.
According to COMELEC Spokesman James Jimenez, it is strictly prohibited within these two days the purchase, selling and serving of liquor.
Liquor ban is stated under the Omnibus elections code.
However, Jimenez said hotels and establishments can get exemption from the liquor ban certified by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as ‘tourist oriented’ and the business is serving foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, Jimenez reminded the public tha campaigning will last until Saturday midnight.
