MANILA - The Sandiganbayan has ordered the transfer of former Antique Governor Jovito Plameras from the hospital to the Antique Provincial jail.

In the four-page resolution of the Anti-Graft Court, the Sandiganbayan is putting an end to the hospital detention of Plameras at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital.

The 81-year old former Governor was convicted from his graft case in 2013, in connection with the payment of CKL Enterprises of Php5.67 million in 1997 for the 1,354 grade school desks and 5,200 armchairs when in actuality, only 1,200 desks and 1,800 armchairs were delivered by the supplier.
In 2015, Plameras’ blood pressure spike up when he was about to be arrested by the members of the Philippine National Police so that he can start serving his jail time of six up to 10 years.

Because of his condition, Plameras was barred from travelling and was subjected to a hospital arrest.
However, when the Sandiganbayan sent a government doctor, the former governor was given the clearance for air travel.

According to the Sandiganbayan, there is no need for Plameras to remain in hospital arrest, but instead of having him detained at the New Bilibid Prison, the anti-graft court decided that he should just be detained at the Antique Provincial Jail.
