PNP Chief Bato confirms quota on administration’s war on drugs

MANILA - Philippine National Police Dir. Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa confirmed that there is an existing quota on provincial and regional directors on the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.

However, Chief Bato clarified that the said quota is only for the number of drug users and pushers who will surrender under ‘Oplan Tokhang’, and those who will voluntarily surrender.

Dela Rosa denied claims that the said quota meant for the PNP to come up with a certain number of dead individuals allegedly involved in illegal drugs activities.

Chief Bato explained that every day, the number of people getting killed during their illegal drugs operations because they have intensified ‘Oplan Tokhang.’

Based on the latest tally of the PNP-Project Double Barrel, more than 732,000 drug users and pushers have surrendered already, but it is still fare from the PNP’s target of three million.
