After being sidelined last Thursday by a mild cold that worsened into a flu, Pacquiao is expected to resume training at the Elorde Gym within the Mall of Asia complex on Monday night.
This time, Roach said security will be tightened in terms of allowing spectators into the gym.
He said Pacquiao could’ve contracted the cold virus from one of the many fans sneaking into the gym to catch a glimpse of the Filipino icon.
"Lots or people are coming daily to watch Manny, bringing virus due to frequent climate change. Everybody gets sick every day," Roach told veteran scribe Eddie Alinea of PhilBoxing.com.
The multi-awarded trainer, however, isn’t pushing the panic button, saying Pacquiao’s illness is only minor and there’s nothing to worry about.
"Today's cancellation of training is merely precautionary, precisely to avoid serious repercussion," Roach added.
He said he and the rest of Team Pacquiao decided to cancel Monday’s afternoon training to allow the boxer added rest.
"Manny waited to proceed with the remaining schedule but the training team was unanimous in deciding to forego the afternoon session," said Roach.
