GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite - A total of 104 people are confirmed injured in the Cavite Economic Zone fire in Rosario, Cavite Gov. Boying Remulla said early Thursday morning.
Remulla told ABS-CBN News that no fatality has been recorded yet, and authorities are still trying to determine if any person is missing amid the fire.
The blaze was put under control as of 12:30 a.m., authorities said.
A Bureau of Fire Protection report said the fire started at the HTI Panel building around 6:20 p.m.
House Technologies Industries is a Japanese company located within the Cavite Economic Zone.
According to Brig. Gen. Charito Plaza, director-general of Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), around 6,000 to 7,000 employees were at work when the fire broke out.
Plaza said there were employees reportedly trapped on the third floor of the 6-hectare building, as fire broke out on the second floor.
Third alarm was immediately raised and the alert level reached Task Force Charlie around 9 p.m.
The fire spread to a nearby factory that contained wood used to build houses.
The injured victims were brought to the Divine Grace Medical Center along Andres Soriano Highway in General Trias, Cavite.
Remulla said around 40 remained in the hospital as of Thursday morning.
He added that the provincial government has no administrative jurisdiction over the Cavite Economic Zone, which is under PEZA.
