In separate statements, the office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12 and the South Cotabato provincial police confirmed the arrest of the four drug dealers, now awaiting prosecution.
They were arrested in separate operations two days after PDEA agents in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) jailed 19 Moro drug traffickers for possession of shabu and military-type assault rifles.
The suspects, led by Commanders Beinte and Lawin, were arrested in a raid before dawn Wednesday in their hideouts at the adjoining Barangays Kusiong and Tapian in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in the first district of Maguindanao.
The raiding team recovered from the duo and their 17 followers four M16 rifles, two M14 rifles, one .30 caliber Browning Automatic Rifle, six .45 caliber pistols and an M203 rifle fitted with a shoulder-rife launcher for 40 millimeter grenade projectiles.
The suspects were caught in the act of repacking shabu in small sachets in their hideout at the border of Barangays Kusiong and Tapian in west of Datu Odin Sinsuat town.
Edgar Apalla, PDEA director for the ARMM, confirmed the arrest of the 19 drug traffickers.
Apalla said the anti-narcotics operation in Barangays Kusiong and Tapian was carried out with the help of the Army’s 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion and personnel of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division based in Camp Siongco, also located in Datu Odin Sinsuat.
