MANILA - SPO3 Arturo Lascanas denied previous claims of alleged former member of the Davao Death Squad, Edgar Matobato, that he was tortured.
According to Lascanas, if Matobato was indeed tortures, then he should have undergone medico-legal or medical examination before filing a case.
Lascanas explained that Matobato should have a medical certificate.
Lascanas, who appeared before the Senate hearing on the alleged extra-judicial killings in connection with the Duterte administrations’ war of drugs, added that in the new sworn statement of Matobato to the National Bureau of Investigation, a year after his alleged torture, his supposed medico-legal certificate suddenly appeared.
In line with this, Lascanas denied Matobato’s claim that he is allegedly the leader of the Davao Death Squad.
The police officer said that there is no DDS and that the media only created that name.
Lascanas said that he has no idea what Matobato was referring to when he mentioned “Lambada boys”, aside from the DDS.
Lascanas explained that everything Matobato said in the Senate against him are all fabricated stories.
However, Lascanas said that he met Matobato during a real estate transaction in 1996.
